Howdy!
I'm Rachel, AKA "Roo", and I am the owner and creator of Artist Rach Ceramics. I created this business as a platform for selling my ceramic creations to local businesses, markets, fairs, and custom requests.
Though my main focus is creating and selling my ceramic work, I also have a background in sculpture and enjoy a variety of different mediums which can be viewed in the "Past Work" section.
One of the more unique mediums I work with is snow, in which the process of carving away snow with only hand tools to reveal a one-of-a-kind sculpture is accomplished within a 3-day time constraint,
My Story
An Iowa native and BFA graduate, Rachel Spurling started her career in 2018 upon graduating from Clarke University in Dubuque, IA. As a constructive outcome of COVID-19's "stay-at-home" order, Rachel spent endless time working in her home ceramic studio to which she began receiving ceramic commissions, thus launching her ceramic business, "Artist Rach Ceramics" in 2021. since then, she has focused on commission work, selling wholesale to local businesses, and creating a body of functional and sculptural work to sell at local fairs and markets.
Along with making and selling art, Rachel also teaches children and adult ceramic classes with the hopes to open her own classroom one day. She enjoys the challenges that come along with teaching all ages as well as helping members of the community find their creative spirit, as she has found hers.
