Desperate times call for desperate measures… This sculpture represents the very real environmental concerns that we are currently facing, more specifically the issues of marine pollution and climate change. The hourglass has not only run out of time, but time itself has become obsolete and irreparable. As the sand irrevocably spills out of the cracked glass, the wispy tentacles of the octopus attempt to collect the sediment and mend the clock. The desperation of this situation is heightened by the improbability of this creature possessing the knowledge and materials to fix this issue on its own, even with 8 tentacles. Therefore, we as humans need to hold each other responsible for answering to this call for action, before it is too late. Can we turn back the sands of time?​
